Crisis screening and support commands.
Crisis support commands
Mellow can screen text for signs of distress and respond with graded support and resources. It does not scan every message in a server. Screening runs on:
/crisis analyze- the "Check on this message" message context-menu command
- DMs to Mellow
- messages that mention or reply to Mellow
- your own messages, only if you opt in with
/preferences set crisis_detection:true
Crisis levels
The AI classifies text into one of:
| Level | Meaning | Response |
|---|---|---|
| none | No indicators | Normal conversation. |
| low | Mild stress, transient | Gentle support and coping resources. |
| medium | Persistent distress | Active support, resources, and a nudge toward professional help. |
| high | Serious risk indicators | Mellow leads with a fixed, reviewed safety message and hotlines. Alerts moderators if enabled. |
| critical | Immediate danger | Fixed safety message, emergency resources, moderator alert if enabled. |
For high and critical, Mellow does not improvise: it opens with reviewed safety copy and verified hotline information, then offers to keep talking. See

Analyze a specific piece of text for crisis indicators and get support.
/crisis analyze message:the text to analyzemessage(required) - the text to analyze.
/crisis resources
Get crisis support resources and recommendations for a situation.
/crisis resources situation:panic attacks late at night, cannot sleepsituation(required) - briefly, what is happening.
Returns relevant hotlines, text lines, and self-help steps. US lines plus a link to the international directory are always included.
/crisis history
View your recent crisis events (the ones Mellow has recorded for you).
/crisis history"Check on this message" (context menu)
Right-click or long-press any message, then Apps -> Check on this message. Mellow screens that single message's content (no intent required) and replies privately with an assessment and resources if needed.
Moderator alerts
When crisis_alerts is enabled for a server (/guildsettings set crisis_alerts:true) and an
alert channel is set (mod_alert_channel), high and critical results post a notification there.
Passive detection alerts moderators only; it does not message the user.
Emergency
Mellow is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger:
- Call your local emergency number - 911 (US), 999 (UK).
- US: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
- UK: call 116 123 (Samaritans).
- Other countries: findahelpline.com.
